How does League Discipline work?
A player who accumulates 4 (four) yellow cards in league play will be suspended for one game. A player who accumulates 2 (two) more (for a total of six) yellow cards in league play will be suspended for another game. A player who accumulates one more (for a total of seven) yellow cards in league play will be suspended until they appear before the Discipline Committee. A player who is under suspension for a game that is defaulted, will be deemed to have served a suspension for that game, regardless of which team forfeited the game. Accumulations of yellow cards in League play will not be carried over to Cup play and accumulation of yellow cards in Cup play will not be carried over to League play. League suspensions will apply to all VMSL playoff games related to relegation, promotion, divisional and sectional championship and league placement for Provincial Cup qualification. Both League suspensions and Cup suspensions will be carried over from season to season.
How do Discipline fines work?
Each game suspension carries a $25 fine. Fines left unpaid by the time the suspension is served, will increase at a rate of $25 per week starting after the suspension is served, with the next eligible game for that player. Fines can be paid from your Team Page or by e-transferring fine amounts to payments@vmslsoccer.com.
How does Cup Discipline work?
All Red Card suspensions will apply to both League & Cup. Yellow Accumulation suspensions will apply only to the competition in which the suspension occurred. League yellow accumulation suspensions (but not Cup yellow accumulation suspensions) will apply to all VMSL playoff games related to relegation, promotion, divisional and sectional championship, and league placement. Yellow accumulation suspensions will not apply to playoffs with the sole purpose to determine Provincial Cup qualification. Four game League yellow accumulation suspensions and Cup yellow accumulation suspensions will not be carried over from season to season but the associated fines must be paid. All other suspensions will carry over from season to season. A player must be registered in the VMSL to serve games. Carryover suspensions are thus not decremented unless and until a player is registered in a following season except in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of the VMSL based on a formal written request.
